We have had a very busy winter. We began communicating with the wonderful students at Rochelle Zell High School about the value of native gardens and what they do for the environment. They came out in force for our seed packaging service day on Martin Luther King Day. Their help was all the more important on that frigid day when many of our adults were not able to get out. With our members, the Rochelle Zell students, their advisor and his daughter, my granddaughter and her friend, we packaged about 900 envelopes of seeds which will be given out at our tabling events. We began by handing seeds out at the River Trails Nature Center Seed Swap.
Presenting “Monarchs are Special” to the families at the Round Lake Park District was amazing. Such engaged parents and children. So grateful to have had that opportunity.
Now we look forward to spring!
