HIGHLAND PARK FARMERS MARKET: We had a wonderful day tabling in Highland Park and handing out milkweed plugs. One plug even had a tiny caterpillar on a leaf, after the plugs had been sitting out on the deck for a couple of weeks before the market! Put out the milkweed and they will come!
NORTHBROOK FARMERS MARKET: We also tabled at the Northbrook Farmers Market, and, as before, had a wonderful time spreading information.
McDONALD FARM – CONSERVATION FOUNDATION TOUR: How inspiring to learn what the Conservation Foundation has done to preserve this farm, use it as a teaching tool, and share its produce.
DEER GROVE FOREST PRESERVE TOUR: Steve Halm, a certified naturalist and Glenbrook High School special education teacher, took us through the prairie of Deer Grove, the first forest preserve in Illinois (and, perhaps, the country). What was farmland is now a thriving prairie!
